En Li

En Li is Vice President and Head of Research, NIBR Shanghai and Head of the Epigenetics Expertise Platform a.i. for the Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR). En joined Novartis in 2003 as Vice President and Head of the Models of Disease Center and Epigenetics Expertise Platform.
 

A native of Shanghai, En received his early education in China and studied biology and biochemistry in Beijing University. He pursued his graduate study at the Shanghai Institute of Biochemistry, Chinese Academy of Science, and later at MIT where he received his Ph.D. in Biology. He then joined the faculty of Harvard Medical School and became a Principal Investigator in the Cardiovascular Research Center and Center for Cancer Research, Massachusetts General Hospital, where he spent 10 years in research and teaching.  His research work at Harvard led to the discovery of a family of DNA modification enzymes that establish DNA methylation patterns of the human genome. En has published over 70 research papers and review articles in peer reviewed scientific journals.
